The first thing that needs to be done in our school systems is to start teaching children a foreign language at a young age. Studies have shown repeatedly that there is indeed a window of learning that children can pick up on foreign languages easily during a certain age. If children really start learning a foreign language when they are young, the chances will be greatly increased for this child to be fluent in both English and a foreign language. Being able to speak a foreign language definitely adds to the intelligence of a child and his or her ability to think. Now when I say teach a child a language, I mean really teach it to them. Teach them as if you are teaching English. Too often children just learn the basics like colors or numbers. This is not enough.

Her products include hand made cards, stationary, and shadowbox displays. Though it is still in its infancy stage, her business is becoming quickly successful due to word of mouth, yahoo groups, and the Ryze Network. Her target customers are mainly moms but anyone who loves handmade work. She turns out a beautiful product.
Let children follow in the “slip stream” of adult living. It is important for children to learn that they are not the center of the universe. While children are important family members, they need to understand that activities are not always structured around them. When you are doing adult activities such as cooking, find ways to involve your children. Yes, it may take a little longer and be a little messier, but they are actively joining in big people activities. By consciously doing this, you are creating quality and quantity family time.
Perfect Madness: Motherhood in the Age of Anxiety by Judith Warner is one of my favorite books. Warner talks about a Cleveland Best Montessori Preschool who cancels a field trip on the spot, because it had drawn too many parent volunteers and not one of them was willing to step down in order to allow the field trip to go on.Seriously.

While allowing him to do this we discovered the U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commission as well as the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA). We get daily e-mails from these organizations not only on safety of baby and child products but food recalls as well. It has become something we cannot do without.
